Think your mom is crazy?
So, I decided I would start this blog a while ago, but haven't really done anything with it. My life is flipping crazy. When I compare my life to that of people I know in terms of notable oddities, the difference is astounding. And I love every minute of it. Okay, that's fudging some, I don't love every minute of every day, but I'm only human, and worse, a fifteen year old girl. But overall, I rather like my life.
The reason I'm making this blog is because I feel the need to somehow post the little things that happen to me on a daily basis. One of the many reasons my life is so different is that my mother is both physically and mentally disabled by state standards. I don't think she's 'mentally disabled' per say, but I've grown up with it, so maybe I'm a little bias.
Her physically disability is that about fourteen years ago, (I think) some doctors blew a spinal tap, (No, I don't really know what that mean, other than they stick a needle into your back and take samples of your spine, or something like that. Feel free to look it up.) but something went wrong and they partially severed her spinal cord. She can still walk and all that good stuff, but she has close to no feeling in her right leg and now has Myoclonic Seizures, which means they start in her spine. The thing is, she only has a seizure in her right leg. How my family has always dealt with this is to simply hold her leg down, which is quite a chore because she has some awesome calf muscles. She can't walk very far, or do a lot of house work, but whatever.
The mental disorder she has is called Multiple Personality Disorder. It's kind of like Schizophrenia, but the little voices have bodies and can use my mom's body whenever. It's normally sparked from a traumatic event in a person's life, -in my mom's case, child abuse- and basically, the person's mind shatters into other little people that live in the person's head. They can be very dangerous, but I've never met one of my mom's alters, (we call them alters, short for alternate personality.) that would ever try to hurt some one. The way Mom's system (that's what we call the group of alters as a whole. They work together as a system to do stuff, whatever it is that they do.) works is that there are 27, (I think, it varies sometimes.) that all work to protect the Core. (the person that everyone is splintered off of.)
Did you think that was it? *Laughs loudly, then deadpans* It's not. My parents are also Polyamorous, which means they have more than one lover. So I have another Mother in addition to my mom and my dad. My biological mother is Mom Kitty, and my other mom (adopted mother, step mother, second mother, whatever floats your boat.) is Mom Friday. If you think I'm making up their names, I'm not. They've both changed their names after marriage, so their parents aren't hippies or anything.
But wait, there's more! Not only does Mom Kitty have a spinal injury and MPD, but so does Mom Friday! Like I said, if you think I'm making this up, I swear I'm not. Not that my imagination couldn't cook up something like this, but I would feel stupid if I made this up and posted it somewhere. I kid you not, I have two moms, both with MPD and spinal injuries.
And I'm just getting started.
